Do 3 non-objective(doesn't’t reference an object in the actual world)sketches each of the following concepts.
1. Peace
2. War
Use only rectangles, circles, and triangles. Pick the best sketch of each and execute it in photoshop using only the shape tool and the eraser.
The images should be black and white only, and make them 600 pixels by 600 pixels.
Save the files as .psd files and bring them with you on Tuesday. Also bring the sketches. |

Go through Lesson 4 on selections in your book(Adobe Photoshop CS2 One on One).
Bring in an image file or hard copy photo(we can scan it) that you will turn into a piece using a style you practiced in class. The image should have some personal meaning or significance for you. It should also have some visually interesting detail in it, and it should not be a portrait of a person. |

Assignment 2:
Turn the image you brought into an image using shapes.
Requirements:
- The image should have some personal meaning or significance for you
- It should also have some visually interesting detail in it
- It should not be a portrait of a person
- The image can consist of abstract/simplified shapes, or it can be more naturalistic and representational.
- See the shapes lecture for help on these terms
- Use the tools and techniques we have used so far, like selections, the pen tool, and the paint bucket
- Try to keep things on different layers so they are easier to change
- image should be between 800 and 1500 pixels along its longest side(width or height)
- Your original image should not show at all when you are finished(turn off that layer)
- Due next Tuesday

Start Assignment 4:
Find, scan or take a high resolution image with a lot of detail, like a room or a cityscape. On one or more layers in photoshop, draw outside contours of the objects. After that, begin drawing the inside lines within objects on a differnet layer to describe them. Try to use brushes and a style that fits the lines in the image and the content.

Assignment 5:
Create an abstract, non-representational image using at least 5 different images of your choice. Use blending modes to combine the images. You can also use layer masks to hide certain parts of certain layers if you wish. Use layer comps or snapshots to store 3 different versions of your image in the same file.
